Last week, River Valley Elementary was fortunate to partake in Washta's annual Shoe Party. With the help of the Parrott Family, River Valley's High School National Honors Society students, River Valley's High School Student Council, and countless Washta Church of faith congregation, many student from the elementary are able to receive a pair of new shoes and many other items including: hats, gloves, and school supplies).
Don and Nancy Parrot started the Shoe Party 15 years ago and to date have given away approximately 1,200 pairs of shoes and many other needed items to our area's youth! What an unbelievable example of the "Spirit of Giving". Thank you Nancy, the Parrott family, the congregation of the Washta Church of Faith, and our HS student helpers for all their help and generosity! River Valley Elementary is forever thankful!

Last Friday, River Valley's 3rd grade took its monthly trip to Correctionville's Assisted Living Center. The teacher, paras, and students spent time celebrating the holiday season with the residents. One other thing they celebrated was Alice Volkert. She has made hundreds of hats, mittens, and more for the students at River Valle over the years! The students showed their appreciation by wearing one of those special hats Alice made!
On behalf of River Valley Elementary, thank you Alice for your dedication to keeping our students warm and toasty!

Join us tonight to help you get into the Christmas spirit!

Remember that career fair that our juniors and seniors went to at Woodbury Central? UBI out of Moville was also there and had a guessing game for the students. They had to guess how many kernels of corn was in the plastic piggybank. On Friday, Craig Plendl with UBI came to school to congratulate Mari Cruz on being the winner!! Way to go Mari from Spain!!

Here is a Christmas gift idea for you! It is ready to go and all you have to do is pick it up! (Orders can be taken also) The Industrial Arts Class has this raised flowerbed available for sale. It measures 27" wide by 48" long and stands about 36" tall. It is built heavy & has a thick coat of Linseed oil on it. $75 donation to the Industrial Arts Class. Call the business office if interested.

Yesterday morning River Valley Elementary got December really going with its December Lift-off event. We talked about a fun filled December and especially celebrated our wonderful students. We recognized our December birthdays and June half-birthdays, KDT Drawing winners, and our Students of the Month. We also had Mrs. Reinking and Mrs. Knaack talk to the students about our KDT Word of the Month-Joy. It is definitely an energized way to start our morning and month!

The Dance Team has worked really hard the last few months on their state routines. Congratulations on your Division 1 Rating for your Jazz routine!!

Join us tonight for Basketball in Moville!

Good Morning River Valley Preschool Parents!
This is just a reminder that there will not be preschool on Wednesday, December 4th (tomorrow). Our staff will be involved in some professional development training. River Valley preschool will resume on Thursday, December 5th.

It is officially feeling and looking a lot like Christmas at River Valley Elementary! Both preschool classes sent off their Santa letters. The letters will definitely make it to the North Pole and Santa on time. Each group of students is eagerly awaiting something under the tree:).

*****There will be practice like normal today******
The Jr High Boys Basketball Game for today has been postponed.
We are working on a new date.

The shop class has been practicing working with metal and has this metal building completed. It is now looking for a good home outside of our shop! The building measures 10' wide by 12' deep. It has a 5' door opening with sliding doors. It does have a metal floor kit (just floor joist) that could/would be installed on site. It needs to be picked up on a calm day soon! If you would like to take it to your place and make a monetary contribution to the shop class, please call the business office.
