On Wednesday, Chloe and Jera left for the Central Space Settlement Design Competition in Houston, TX. We spent a few hours at Galveston on Thursday afternoon. Friday was spent at Space Center Houston which included tram rides for the Astronaut Training Facility and Rocket Park. Friday night was opening ceremonies for the competition. Saturday started with technical sessions for each department followed by the competition itself. Students needed to have their designs and presentations done and turned in by 8 Sunday morning. Presentations were Sunday morning which consisted of 35 minutes to present their design and 10 minutes of Q & A from the seven judges. The results were announced during closing ceremonies this afternoon. First, congratulations to Chloe for being awarded the Dick Edwards Award for displaying quiet leadership within her company (Rockdonnell)! Second, congratulations to Jera for her contributions to the winning team of Dougeldyne Fletchel!! Great job to both girls for representing River Valley!!!
