Dear Wolverines:

On Wednesday night, the  River Valley School Board approved an operational sharing agreement with Hinton to share me as superintendent the rest of this year.  This came about very quickly as the board last week had made increasing operational sharing  a goal for the year in order to help our financial situation, which has been impacted by declining enrollment. Without some action we would be going into our unspent balance.

Hinton approved a resignation from their superintendent last Thursday and posted an advertisement for an interim superintendent. Given our goals as a district, I reached out to Hinton and checked their interest if they would be willing to share for the year as it could be mutually beneficial for both districts.  Hinton approved on Tuesday and River Valley approved Wednesday.

Going forward, I will split my time 50/50 between both districts.  I will have a schedule set up soon. There will obviously need to be some flexibility as things can pop up in both districts.  I will work very hard to make this work for both districts. The agreement is for this year only.

Benefits of Operational Sharing:

  • Split current salary 50/50 with Hinton
  • Receive $55,000 in 2021-2022 in Operational Sharing Incentive dollars.

Thank you

Mr. Slater
