Teachers, students and parents are encouraged to attend the Iowa Financial Literacy Summit on May 5th in Des Moines. The Iowa Department of Education is hosting this event to improve Iowa students' financial literacy skills and raise awareness that making smart, responsible financial decisions is an important part of a great education; to provide teaching resources to help students meet the financial literacy component of our state standards; and to connect Iowans with community resources and programs that support financial literacy education. This was the kick off to Jump Rope for Heart. Every year students have the opportunity to ask family and friends for donations to go to the American Heart Association. Every $50 donated will save one life. Last year we raised over 3,500 and saved 71 lives!
